Over the past few months, the Coding Clinic Advisor team has been making incremental improvements and design adjustments to the website. We are pleased to announce our biggest development yet: a new option to purchase individual Q&As so you can build your own newsletter!
Coding Clinic is a quarterly newsletter published by the American Hospital Association’s Central Office on ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS. In each issue, there are questions and answers to our most submitted questions. The advice provided in Coding Clinic is the result of a formal cooperative between the American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). To access those questions and answers, you must have a Coding Clinic subscription to either a specific year or the entire library.
However, what if you want certain questions and answers without purchasing a full subscription? That's where pay-by-search will shine! With our new pay-by-search feature, you can now:
- Search and preview every Ask-the-Editor Q&A going back to 2001 for Coding Clinic for HCPCS and 2012 for Coding Clinic for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS,
- Purchase an individual Q&A for just $20,
- Access your purchased questions whenever you like from any device, and
- Build your own Coding Clinic newsletter by purchasing Q&As relevant to a specific disease state or topic.
How does it work? Following these simple steps to purchase any Q&A!
- Sign in or create an account.
Search any keyword or code in the search bar and all questions pertaining to the search term will appear in the results. For example, if you are looking for coding advice and information on “Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV),” type either “respiratory syncytial virus” or “RSV” in the search bar and then press search.

You can also click the title and it will take you to the Coding Clinic article in which the question appears. You also have the option to filter on the left side by library type, year, and quarter.
Here’s what is new! If you do not have an active Coding Clinic subscription, you have the option to purchase the Q&A of your choosing. Check the box and add the question to the cart.
